Senior Conservation Officer, RSPB
Claire Smith
Claire is based in Perthshire and has worked in conservation for 20 years, 15 of these with RSPB where she covers South Highland and Cairngorms.
She specialises in the uplands, working on landscape scale partnership projects advising landowners on habitat restoration and project work for our rarest birds including waders, capercaillie and raptors.
Claire manages Rare Invertebrates in the Cairngorms which relies on people and landowners taking action for rare insects.
She has worked for English Nature in SW England, spent several years working on seabirds on Handa and Rum. She monitors hen harriers in her spare time.

Nigel Alston Phillips
Nigel, originally from Northumberland is a culture professional who has a wealth of experience grained from his time working with English Heritage as a national events manager, Chicago Children’s Museum as a manager for corporate relations and a decade managing his own business.
Over the past 5 years, Nigel has worked for Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums developing and re-envisioning the corporate giving programme to attract new business partnerships to invest in to the regional museum and archive service. A challenging role covering 9 cultural venues across 4 local authorities.

Judy Cowgil
A teacher for 40 years, Judy has always put the creative arts at the forefront of her pedagogy. During her time as headteacher at Hawthorn Primary School in Elswick Newcastle upon Tyne she initiated the In Harmony project in conjunction with The Glasshouse Gateshead. This project gives every child the opportunity to learn a musical instrument for up to four hours in school time. It has been a huge success, giving access to music to a deprived community and changing hearts and minds as well as raising aspirations for hundreds of children over the life of the project. Her involvement with Miscreations Theatre several years ago after seeing the transformational work the company carried out in schools, and acting as educational advisor before becoming a director.
