Fools Errant

A seasonal show… Fools Errant… the story of an ancient fallen tree, ghostly hauntings and a magic teapot for ages 5+

Fools Errant is a vibrant and immersive performance created with Miscreation’s unique brand of interactive play and imagination that is perfect for young people and their families.
Originally commissioned to commemorate the loss of the Sycamore in the Gap and first performed for primary schools (ages 7 – 9) at The Sill (Northumberland National Parks) for
their “One Year On” day of activities marking the tree’s felling. Fools Errant is a 40-minute interactive performance that combines clown storytelling, song, environmental awareness and inclusive fun!

For 300 years, a sycamore tree has stood in a remote wilderness, silently absorbing the deepest secrets, joys and fears of those who visited from all corners of the world, becoming a repository for all our silent hopes and anxieties. But now, the tree has fallen, unleashing 300 years of stories and dreams to haunt the hills in a whirlwind of unexplainable echoes and confusion, echoes that ripple around the world for this ancient tree is one among many.

Through the magical power of imagination and story, our errant fools will bind these restless ghosts back into the earth, restoring peace to the haunted hills and plant new seeds that will grow to receive our troubles and dreams for millennia to come.

Come on this extraordinary journey where myths come alive to heal and transform loss into vital, potent memories and hope. Will you dare to join these fools and help bring order to the chaos?

“Thank you both so much for the performance at the Sill, the children loved it…The nature of your performance space meant it was easy for them to come and go with support staff, or to watch from a distance…I had lots of pupils telling me it was the highlight of their day and that it was ‘really funny’ and ‘made me laugh so hard’!”
-Bob White, Teacher, Allendale Primary School

“Thank you both again, I hope we can see more performances like this in the future. For just two actors to maintain such attention and engagement on a chilly day, was rather remarkable and a testimony to their amazing creativity and performance skills. Thank you very much.”
-Ruth Hawkin, Art Teacher, Haltwhistle Academy.
