ENTER THE UNDERGROUND
WORLD OF THE WORM and so much more…
Underground – full of shadow puppets, projection, illumination, music and clown story telling. We invite you to come on an immersive journey into soil where the fearless spirit of our childhood adventures, digging holes to the centre of the earth, uncovers mind-blowing realities about the soil that sustains us all.
Promoting positive environmental action and raising awareness about soil health, expect swashbuckling fun, belly filling laughter, and dream-making fantasy!
“An extremely talented, creative group of people at Miscreations. The children loved the performance
and laughed all the way through it – so did the adults!”
In October and November 2023 our first adventure into research and development on this new project began in collaboration with Alison McGowan of Puppetship, Christo Wallers filmmaker, lecturer, and researcher, and John Cobb of Theatre Sans Frontieres, workshopping ideas and creating audio tracks and shadow scenes with local primary schools across Northumberland and into Newcastle.
This project is going into extended R&D this coming Autumn where we will be working collaboratively with local primary schools and venues in the North East in order to bring it into production in Spring 2025. We can’t wait to get started!
Funding partnerships for Underground include Arts Council England, Northumberland County Council, Queens Hall Arts, and Allendale Parish Council.
If you would like to be involved in this project or have a chat about it with us please, contact us we’d love to hear from you.
The Wilding Theatre project was developed with support from Arts Council England alongside Northumberland County Council, Northumberland National Parks, Westmorland Dales Landscape Partnership Scheme with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Queens Hall Arts Centre, TCR Hub Barnard Castle.
We will capture footage for each season throughout the year and share it here, eventually adding footage from other
Dreaming Giants across the North of England.
“The stories performed amongst the trees around the Giant sculpture were very popular and are proving a talking point, bringing to life the connections between people and nature in a lighthearted way that is easy to engage with.” (Ginny Swale, Plugging the Gaps.)
“It surpassed [my expectations] completely…a mix of fantasy and reality which is really beneficial as this is an emotive and complex subject that many people struggle with and this project is cutting through that awkwardness. I’ve learnt a lot!"
